Course Introduction:

We will examine the major case law of the field, giving particular stress to rulemaking, policing and adjudicative activities of federal and state administrative and regulatory agencies. An equally strong emphasis will be given to the legal liability and constraints of public officials.

It is important to read the assignments prior to class, to approach the exercises as a challenge, and to acquire a new vocabulary in legal nomenclature.

Learning how to do legal research is another skill that will prove valuable in this sub-field. The Documents section of the Sherrod Library contains many legal volumes and collections which will prove useful in this course.
